Mary M. Ruggiero, Ph.D., PCC
Founder, Practitioner
Mary is a business psychologist and professional certified coach with more than 10 years of experience coaching leaders, teams, and individuals through personal and organizational transitions within a variety of sectors, including Academia, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Hospitality, Financial Services, Publishing, and Non-profits.
She has worked as a change management consultant since 2010 and as an Adjunct Professor in the Masters of Organization Development and Leadership (MODL) program at SJU since 2011. She is certified in numerous assessment instruments, as well as in virtual facilitation.
Committed to Learning and Personal Growth
Mary earned a Ph.D. in Business Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a M.S. in Organizational Psychology and Leadership, as well as a Master’s Certificate in Adult Learning, from St. Joseph’s University, where she has taught Organization Development graduate students as an Adjunct Faculty member since 2011.
Mary loves learning and striving to reach her full potential – and she is passionate about helping others do the same. Drawing from her formal education and lived professional and personal experiences, Mary provides clients unique perspectives, a range of tools and resources, and a data-driven, results-oriented approach to help them achieve their goals.
Mary believes that learning is at the heart of development and represents the soul of coaching. As a lifelong learner herself, she continually seeks out and incorporates research-based and innovative concepts into her practice. She also consistently engages with a varied community of practice, cultivating a solid network of like-minded professionals with whom she regularly collaborates. By remaining open to new ideas and concepts, Mary remains energized and continues to expand – both her perspectives and repertoire of tools – ultimately benefitting her clients.

No. Unlike advising, which assumes the advisor has the right answer, coaching leverages the client’s inner wisdom to determine the best, most actionable solution.
Isn’t coaching like advising?
The length of time a person invests in coaching depends entirely on their objectives and individual circumstances. Effective coaching involves a process of goal setting, self-discovery, experimentation, reflection, and adjustment. As such, some amount of time is always needed between coaching sessions for the client to try out new activities or behaviors. Typically, coaching engagements complete within 3, 6, or 12 months’ time, with coaching sessions occurring approximately twice per month. During our first conversation, we will discuss your goals and compare different coaching engagement options to determine what is most appropriate and comfortable for you.
How much time does coaching take?
Coaching services are typically offered via virtual meetings or by phone. Fortunately, we are experienced in using virtual platforms to facilitate engaging sessions for individuals and teams. In-person meetings or events can be arranged, if desired.
